Accenting the Edges

Today I want to show you how I used Shimmerz paints and Enamelz, to pretty up a canvas. First, I cut a bunch of canvas squares, painted some of them with black acrylic paint, and then using molding paste, I glued them onto the 8x11 canvas.
Next, I smeared some of the molding paste up onto the edges of my squares, let dry, and then coated my edges with some Crackle Accents. After that was tacky, but not dry, I used December Sky Blingz, and a little of Anchors Away Coloringz and painted on top of the Crackle Accents. Then I let dry. To set the paint permanently, I then used some Versamark ink and sprinkled Sparklicious Enamelz over the edges to seal the squares before I added a bunch of my gems and other paper pieces.

The best!

My dear son HÃ¥kon simply is the best! I just love him to bits...

when I grow up..

Hello. It's Naomi here today to share a simple LO.

I have used:

COLORINGZ Mandarin Mai Tai
VIBEZ Sea Monkey
VIBEZ Princess
VIBEZ Sunset Strip

They work so well not only on a paper but also on a canvas. (butterflies on the LO)
Sea Monkey is one of my favourite colours!
(The colour combination I used is from The Color Room #116)

My 3 year old daughter says "When I grow up, I want to be a butterfly."
It's good to be a kid, isn't it?

hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Fun with Shimmerz!

Hi Shimmerz fans, Stacey here with a layout to share today.  Here is what I used:

Pearlz in Mint Julip
Spritz in Sapphire
Coloringz in Heidi Ho Blue and Ivy League

I have added lots of texure to my background and added in the pops of colour.  I tried to be minimal with my embellishments this time so I could focus on the layering of the mists and other textures.  It was really fun just making a mess:)

Hope you have a creative day today,

Tag e card by Shimmerz

Today I will show you how products Shimmerz always give that touch of extra color to every project: even if you use them in large quantities or in small doses everything becomes bright and colourful.

In these tow tags I used Shimmerz to create the background: I stamped the cardstock with stamps and clear embossing powder, then I coloured then with three different shades of colors: Aqua Marine, Jilted Jade and Celery. To complete the tags I adhered some rub ons, along with the sentiment.

For the card I dropped some drops of Shimmerz mist with the brush on the white background to add movement and shimmer to it. Then I added some scraps of paper and pieces of lace and ribbon. I made the card out of scraps!

Products used:

Shimmerz: Aqua Marine, Jilted Jade, Tickle ME Turquoise, Pink and Celery.

Have a great day with creativity!

Artsy fun.....

Its Me (Lydell) again with a page to share.
I created this....

I used three colours of Shimmerz on this page....
 Anchors Away Coloringz,
December Sky Blingz
and Aqua Marine Shimmerz.

I played with some Black Gesso in the background to add some grunge, then used Aqua Marine on some bubble wrap and stamped it hap-hazzardly about.
I used an old left over foam adhesive sheet to paint inside, like a stencil, with a paint brush....then I roughly went around each circle with a black pen.
The drips are just made by touching the tube inside the anchors away bottle to the page, getting them right where I want them (rather than all over the page when you flick it.....)

This strip of letters was made using a letter stencil sheet and wiping some texture paste over the top, leaving the raised letters behind when you lift the stencil away.
I painted these letters with a fine brush using December Sky Blingz

The Chipboard ampersand was painted with Aqua Marine Shimmerz

I stamped some various circle stamps into a little puddle of Shimmerz Paint on my craft sheet
and then onto some packaging and cut them out.....I even wiped a ticket stub (which was the wrong colour for my Layout) through the puddle on my craft sheet and made it match!

And thats my Shimmerz Play today!

Hope you can play with some Shimmerz Paints soon.

Pink!

My sister and I had some fun with the Nikon, and I ended up with this photos of myself!

Perfect for any Palette!

Lately, I am completely in love with the chocolate-y tones of some of the Shimmerz colors. For this layout below, I used a combination of Spritz in Treasured Hymn and MudPie, and Vibez in Before Dawn to deepen the intensity of the color palette within the papers.

I love how even using the darkest colors of paints can highlight photos and clusters if you are using a light colored background like on my page.

I also filled in some of my petals here behind my daughter's picture, using Espresso and Enamelz in Fake Bake, and then added some more Fake Bake along the right side of the page and cluster for a perfectly shimmery, royal looking effect!
Shimmerz has a color for EVERYTHING. A perfect companion to my kit from Swirlydoos this month, I never have to look elsewhere for that beautiful accent color, and I LOVE THAT!

I am the luckiest MAMA in the world.

Hello hello.
It's Naomi here and today I'd like to share an LO with a picture which I took on Mother's day last month.
As most of us (mothers) are the photographers (and the chefs and the cleaners, ect..) in everyday life, we don't get to be in pictures as often as we SHOULD.
I am glad I made an effort to take some shots of the children and myself on Mother's day with a self timer. (how clever are you, Self timer!!)
It's not a perfect one but "I"am in it with the kids and that's what counts, right?

Here is the LO.

For the background, I firstly applied gesso all over the patterned paper very lightly so that the pattern is still visible not completely hidden.
For the texture, I glued some strips of old dressmaking paper
Then I applied the products below to create interesting new pattern along with the original pattern underneath.
  • VIBEZ Fiery Fiesta
  • VIBEZ Rusty Bottom
  • COLORINGZ No Yoking
  •  VIBEZ Sea Monkey
  • SHIMMERZ Coffee
For the canvas butterfly, I painted it with
  • SPRITZ Sea Form
  • SHIMMERZ Coffee
  • VIBEZ Hermit the Frog
  • COLORINGZ Heidi-Ho-Blue
  • VIBEZ Sea Monkey
  • COLORINGZ Mama sings the Blue
and for the finishing shinny touch, I applied
  • ENAMELZ Sparklicious

I have to say I LOVE how the butterfly turned out using shimmerz.

Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Shimmering with Recycled masks.......

Chances are, you, like me, have many little things just laying about that you could use as masks in your artwork.  I have been collecting bits of this and that for some time.  Sponges, the woven bags our oranges come in, bread tags, old game pieces, tubes.....anything with a cool shape you can spray over or dip into Shimmerz paints to stamp with....

So here is a layout I have been working on today!

I so enjoyed this one.
Lots of masking, with not even one purchased mask.

I hunt and gather all the things that I can find that would be good to spray through.  The large circles is a sheet from a game I bought the kids (once the chipboard discs where punched out), I coated it with acrylic sealer (Helmar) so it could get wet repeatedly and I use it all the time.  The smaller cluster of circles is a used sheet of foam mounting circles, which works great as a mask and a stamp.  I also used a alphabet stencil from a kids stationary set I have had for years.  It pays to check round the house for usable bits and pieces to spray and mist over!!!

I stamped the word 'three' and painted in the colour (a mix of Valentino & My Bleeding Heart Coloringz)

Rolling in the Hay Vibez
Hot fudge Vibez
Before dawn Vibez
Licorice Spritz
Valentino Coloringz
My Bleeding Heart Coloringz

Masking is so much fun....I could make backgrounds all day with Shimmerz Sprays!!!!
Hope you will have a play too.
