My Prom Date

Not every woman can say that she went to the prom
with her husband,
but I can!
Of course, he wasn't my husband back then.
He was a shy eleventh grade boy
who summoned the courage to ask me to the prom,
and I'm glad he did,
because the rest is history.

Aside from our prom photo,
this is the only photo I have of him on prom night,
when we wandered through the aisles of a grocery store
in our dressy attire, craving junk food.

To create the layout,
I covered the background paper with layers of Shimmerz Vibez
in Pop Art Pink and Fiery Fiesta
and Shimmerz Spritz in Treasured Hymn.
I then stamped a bunch of "couples" over the background.

The shiny, glimmery background
definitely takes me back to junior prom!

I also cut out a few hearts from cardstock
and misted over them,
and then journaled over the negative space.
The resulting shimmery hearts were also put to good use:

I've been wanting to scrap this photo for years,
and with Shimmerz in hand,
I'm so glad I finally did!

*How About A Nice Jeni B Punch?*

remember the old "Hawaiian Punch commercials??
cheesy, cheesy....
but seriously!

It's Leslie here today and I'm here to share a layout with you
that I used just a "punch" of Jeni B Blue Shimmerz Vibez
and it really brightened the entire layout:

I sprayed Jeni B Bleu Vibez all over a heart doily
(from The Girls Loft January kit) and it jazzed it up!
I also punched hearts from book paper & sprayed
LOTS of Jeni B Bleu on them, cut them in half and used
them as my border along the bottom of my photo's.
Just a punch of color to an already colorful layout
made a HUGE impact. I love mixing colors like that....

Thanks for letting me share with you today!
Have a lovely day!

Coloringz On Fabric

For something fun and different, try spritzing the NEW Shimmerz Coloringz on white fabric.
The vibrant colors are magical!
My daughter and I made rolled fabric flowers and lace leaves to create a handmade headband.
We simply cut strips of white fabric, spritzed them with the NEW Shimmerz Coloringz (Lime in da Coconut, Mandarin Mai Tai and Pink Stiletto), let them dry...then a little twisting and gluing.

A fun and easy project in no time!

Two projects, many Shimmerz.

Hi Ladies, I have two fun projects to share with you today. When sitting down to creatre my first project, I knew that I would be using different products of  Shimmerz family.

I created the flowers by cutting the petals from scraps of paper and I added a touch of different Shimmerz as a topping on my background.
For this tag, I used Vibez: I get so strong and bright colours!

Here I used Shimmerz to create the green and blue drops.
On this card I used the soft Shimmerz Spritz.
Products used:

Vibez: Hermit the Frog and Jeni B Blue.
Shimmerz: Sunny, Clery and Acqua Marine.
Spritz: Cotton Candy, A Leaf Clover and Chick-A-Dee.

For this second project, I created a card that holds photos: it's a nice gift to give to your dearest ones.

Products used:

Vibez: RazzelDazzel Berry and Sea Monkey.
Shimmerz: Royal Purple, Magenta, Acqua Marine and Sunny.

Have a great day with creativity!

Splash your color

some projects feel complete when they are covered in Shimmerz others require nothing but a simple splash.

This layout was based on a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. The sketch provided alot of possibilities but wasn't complete without the multiple colors of paint splashes all about the layout.
I used Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez, Hermit the Frog Vibez, Blue by you pearlz, & Licorice Spirtz. To me they add a sense of movement to the layout and a fun touch to go along with the fun photo and story behind it.

a little Pixie Dust Blingz makes this felt flower sparkle, and stand out.

Layout #2 is another example of the effects simple paint splashing can have on a layout. Peas Be Mine Pearlz adds just the right touch to give this layout the artsy feel it needed.

I hope this makes you want to start splashing some projects today :-)Thanks for stopping by!!

1962

When working on layouts with old photos, I often grab my Gold Glimmer Blingz.  It really adds to the vintage feel of a page. This is a picture of my mom and dad sitting in front of the fireplace with my grandparents (my mom's parents) in 1962, the year after my parents got married.

As seen in the January 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes.  Copyright Creative Crafts Group.  Published with permission of the publisher.

Yep . . . hanging out with the in-laws. I wonder what they were talking about that day . . .

To give the plain chipboard alphas a vintage look, I painted them with Gold Glimmer Blingz and then I inked the edges with brown ink:

Have a wonderful day!

Shimmerz & The Color Room, Heidi's Take 2!

Are you playing along with Shimmerz and The Color Room this month? I hope so, because the palette match-ups with Shimmerz are delicious! In the layout below, I used Vibez in Hermit the Frog, Spritz in Sapphire and Sea Foam, and Pearlz in Blue By U.

Have you tried making coffee rings with your Shimmerz yet? I love how they turned out here, and the frame that was covered in Spritz Sapphire, and then topped with Pearlz in Blue By U is sooo gorgeous in real life. If you think it is shimmery in that photo up there, you should see it on my mantle. LOVE IT!

They're Coming...

I got my hands on a few sneaky pics of the newest Shimmerz products and I just couldn't wait until Thursday (the official release date) to spill the beans.

Shimmerz will be releasing two (yep! two!) new products:

Coloringz
Coloringz are super opaque, highly saturated colors without shimmer. We're talking serious
color here! Yet, they are still water-based and non-toxic. They'll still clean up with soap and
water just like all the other Shimmerz products!

Check out these awesome new (10!) colors! Each of them was sprayed on plain white
cardstock. Can you believe the burst of juicy color?

Shimmeringz
Shimmeringz are super shimmery sprays with only shimmer, no color. (There are 5 of them!)

Heavy Metal - a combo of 3 different metallics
Goldie Lox - gold shimmer
Concrete - silver shimmer
Baby's Breath - white shimmer
Bronze Bomshell - bronze shimmer

With Coloringz and Shimmeringz, you can now completely customize your look.
If you want a great red with gold undertones, just spray My Bleeding Heart followed by
Goldie Lox. Want red with silver undertones? My Bleeding Heart with Concrete is your recipe. The creative possibilities are really endless!

Here's a picture of a white cardstock flower that was sprayed with Pink Stiletto Coloringz
and Heavy Metal Shimmeringz.

All of these new products will be available for purchase on Thursday. Yeah!

Happy Shimmering!

xoxo

Paint by Letters

We've all heard of painting by numbers,
but in this layout, I painted by letters:

I can't seem to get enough of Shimmerz vibrant greens and brilliant yellows,
which I used to fill in some of the stamped letters:
Shimmerz Pearlz in Samrock and Peas Be Mine,
Shimmerz in CandleLight,
and Shimmerz Blingz in Mello Yello
most definitely add a shimmery charm to this layout
and to these alphabet stickers:

Don't you just LOVE your Shimmerz?

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Hello everyone!   I have a layout to share today . . .

I used Pop Art Pink Vibez and Caribbean Sunset and Mango Madness Spritz on white Prima flowers.  I used Coal Shimmerz on a vintage crocheted doily.

These pictures are near and dear to my heart.  They are photos of my stepfather with my daughter when she was two-years old (she's now 8).  They liked to play "Monkey See, Monkey Do."  My stepfather would walk with his arms folded and then my daughter would copy him and walk with her arms folded.  He'd move his hands behind his back and she'd move her arms behind her back, and so on and so on (you get the picture).  My daughter always kept a straight face, but the rest of us would crack up every time she copied his actions.

My mom and stepfather loved these two pictures, so they framed them and proudly hung them on their living room wall where they've been displayed for the past 6+ years.

Sadly, my stepfather passed away a couple months ago.  We all miss him terribly.  As a gift to my mom, I made this layout for her and put it in a shadow box frame to go on the wall.

Oh! For the Love of Cardboard...

and painting metal, and buttons, and paper, and paste. I don't know about you, but I reach for corrugated cardboard pieces almost as often as I reach for paper. I love the raw edges, and the texture it gives to wall art, layouts and cards. Using Shimmerz paints on it completely amps up the edginess of the overall piece and creates unique color effects every time.

This layout also is playing along with The Color Room's palette #40!

For this layout I used Vibez in Fiery Fiesta, and Spritz in Licorice, Treasured Hymn and Concrete.

Until next time, keep on Shimmerz-ing! :)
