Frame It .. with Shimmerz!

by Carrie Ferrier
Lately I've really been into using my scrapbook supplies to make simple framed art. Shimmerz is a major part of both of my framed pieces I'm sharing today.

On this framed piece, I simply spritzed Shimmerz Vertigre and Barn Door on the background cardstock before I added my word stamps and ribbon. I've been wanting to make this simple framed piece using these word stamps for a long time .. pretty powerful to me. This is in my scrapbook room, and I'm also making several more for Christmas gifts.

On this framed piece, I wanted to decorate the frame in a simple way that would aid in showcasing the photo of my beautiful niece on her wedding day. I took a plain white prima flower and spritzed it with a combo of Shimmerz Bed or Roses, Baby Breath, a fine spritz of Vertigre, and finished it off with some Barn Door.

I absolutely adore how, with just a little bit of Shimmerz, a project gets that final "oomph" of goodness.

Shimmer it Up!

Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner? When did that happen. 2010 has flown by so fast - I want to grab a hold of what is left of it and create some fun holiday memories.
Speaking of memories...last Christmas may daughter, Izabelle received a kitten from Santa (lucky girl).
One can't help but add a little sparkle when creating a Christmas layout!

I cut out some flowers from my Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather paper and shimmered them up with some Pixie Dust.
I dressed up my snowman with with some Shimmerz too (Pearl, Luscious Lilac and a little Carrot Top for the nose).
Again, I brought out the Shimmerz Pixie Dust for this little Santa face:

I'm consistently grabbing my Shimmerz products when I create cards.
On this card I changed the look of the paper by adding blue to this red, white and black line.
Sea Foam Blue Spritz is such a beautiful color.

Thanks for stopping by today - have a shimmery day!

Thankful Banner

I love Thanksgiving! I love cooking, hanging out with my family, watching football, and especially eating!! I have so very much to be thankful for. I made this "thankful" banner to decorate my house for Thanksgiving. I just love the way the Shimmerz added some sparkle to this project!

I used Hot Fudge Vibez on the letters and the brown paper and I used Terracotta Spritz on the orange paper pinwheels and the borders.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you are counting your blessings!

Delight

By Stacy Cohen

I'm always trying to fun new and different shapes to use as masks with Shimmerz Spritz and Vibez.

To create the background, I used Lily Bee chipboard stickers and Vibez. I simply placed the chipboard stickers on a sheet of cardstock (without removing the protective sticker backing), then I sprayed over the chipboard pieces with Shimmerz Red-Y Or Not Vibez.

After I removed the chipboard stickers, I outlined the shapes with Stickles for a little extra definition.
I colored the lace doily with Blue Jeans Vibez.   And see those little leaves?  I made them out of really cool air dry modeling compound called Delight.  The modeling compound is white, and you can either mix paint in before it dries or paint it afterward.   For these leaves I chose to paint them with Shimmerz Peas-B-Mine after they were dry.

Have a wonderful day!

A folder for rubber stamps

For this new project I used different Vibez colors to create a folder for rubber stamps.

For the cover, I used two pieces of white corrugated card-board and I decorated them with the help of a stencil. For the front I sprayed Grape Escape, Razzledazzle Berry and Sunset Strip Vibez.

Behind I used Sea Monkey, Red-Y or Not and Hermit the Frog Vibez. I used Coal Shimmerz on the edges and to create small drops of color.

I have decorated my folder with Petaloo flowers; I colored them with Fiery Fiesta, Hermit The Frog and Sunset Strip Vibez. For the word "Timbri" I used a white alphabet colored with Tickle-Me-Turquoise Shimmerz and a bit of Coal Shimmerz. I covered them with Glossy Accents.

To complete my work I used some ribbons sprayed with Vibez to close the folder.

Have a great day with creativity!

Nothing Like Family

I love to use masks to create misted backgrounds. Chipboard shapes or supply packaging are perfect tools to use when misting. I love creating with cardstock first and adding the layers of paint and ink!

My family is very important to me and I love this photo of me and my daughter Synai at the Grand Canyon this summer. I couldn't think of more perfect beautiful moment to share than with my family.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

What Matters Most

Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude. --E.P. Powell
As much as I love turkey and gravy,
and two days off from work,
Thanksgiving is truly about what matters most: family.
I am so very grateful for mine.

I added lots of layers o' love to this layout,
with help from Shimmerz.
I began by spraying Vertigre, Treasured Hymn, and Jeni-B-Bleu Vibez
all over the background dictionary paper
to create a shimmery backdrop
with a vintage feel.
I then added layers of papers that were accented with Shimmerz paints.
I had so much fun painting parts and pieces of this layout.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Denim + Shimmerz + a Tree?

equals...
a fun & sassy tree I whipped up...

I decided to take some leftover denim from scraps
I'd been using and put them to good use!

Have you SEEN how denim just soaks in the Shimmerz?
An absolutely YUMMY effect...in my opinion:

<----closeup of Shimmerz on denim

here's my tree:

a little closer:

and closer - in the sunshine (it looks beautiful inside with lights on it too!)

To make this tree, I simply bought a small paper mache tree
in the local hobby store & painted it charcoal.
I sprayed Shimmerz
in Licorice over the tree, then let it dry.

After it dried, I took the strips of denim I cut
(about 12 inches long, some were longer,
some shorter..they weren't a perfect cut)
and tied in a knot. I turned the tree a little each
time to make sure the knots weren't exactly under
each other. I trimmed the long ends,

next I....
spritzed Shimmerz in Concrete, Licorice AND Baby's Breath
& let dry fully overnight (I loaded it!)

Sure made it sparkle bright!

I also made little flower rosettes in 2 different styles out of the denim
as well as tied the bow at the top of the tree with denim.
the felt flowers are by:  Wendy Hammer Designs
I added Shimmerz to them also...

here's one  more shot of the tree in the sunshine:

hope you have a fun shimmery day!

Falling back to a springtime palette...

Because while fall is here, I cannot seem to get enough of these beautiful Shimmerz colors! For the layout below, I used Blingz in Under the Sea, Vibez in Hermit the Frog, and Shimmerz in Ballet Slipper. I also did a masking, using a bit of Molding Paste on the background before I Shimmerz'd this layout like crazy. :)

What better way to beautify a bruised up picture of my baby, then to use Shimmerz? (She fell off the jungle gym at school and got quite the shiner... which she thought was FABULOUS since it looked like she was wearing make-up! Aaaah, to be 6.)

I spritzed, smeared with my fingers, and dripped until perfect, drying in between colors so that no muddiness happened. I also painted the rose, and framed the photos by using a bamboo stick to drag the paint around them.

Tags for one "Thank you"!

For this special month, the one of the Thanksgiving, I created two thank you tags using some of my favorite Vibez.

For the background I used Rolling in the Hay, Sunset Strip and Hot Fudge Vibez with the help of a sponge. I brushed Aqua Marine Shimmerz on the edges and to make the drops.

I lit the flowers with a sprinkling of Snow Storm Vibez.

Have a great day with creativity!

Celebrate Life

Let's celebrate the Fall Season by celebrating the beauty of life.

This is my new niece Makayla. I so enjoy being an aunt. It's so different from being a mother.

Nothing speaks baby girl like Pink and Green. And one of my favorite Shimmerz products is "Peas B Mine" Pearls. The color is so rich and beautiful.

The leaves use to be pieces of chipboard that I cut using my big shot die. Then pulled off each layer until it was just cardstock, pretty much :) And painted two coats of Peas B Mine Pearlz on top.

those tiny little rolled flowers were made using an MFT die. These little dies are so cool. And work wonderful with your shimmerz. Once I finished making all three flowers I painted them with Peas B Mine as well.

Here is the finished layout

Thanks for stopping by.

Home is Wherever we Are

By Stacy Cohen

There is nothing in the world that gives me more comfort than being with my family.  When I'm with them, I am home.   Here's a layout I did a little while back that memorizes this sentiment.

I painted the ornate Dusty Attic frame with Choc-o-Lot Shimmerz paint:

I found some great vintage crocheted  doiles at an estate sale, and I like to color them them with different colors of  Spritz and Vibez.  On this one I used Fiery Fiesta Vibez:

I made a little puffy heart by covering chipboard with fabric over batting.  I painted the edge of the heart with Pink Shimmerz:
