Glamming up the glamour girls

The ladies on this beautiful Graphic 45 paper just called out for a little Shimmerz "glam."

Photobucket

At the top of the page I added Gold Glimmer and Pixie Dust Shimmerz on the wings and Royal Red on her tiny dress. Then I painted the woman's black dress with a little Coffee Shimmerz. She looks like the kind of woman who appreciates a little extra bling, don't ya think?

Photobucket

Is everyone working on their projects for the Shimmerz give away? I hope so! I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
I am loving all of the wonderful scrapbook pages that have been posted on here the past few days. Aren't they just gorgeous! Unfortunately I haven't found the time to scrapbook in months (I'm crossing my fingers to maybe get caught up on a few sb pages this weekend though). Even though I haven't been scrapbooking, I have however found a little bit of time to play with my newest Shimmerz colors. Here is a card I made using the new Fire Engine Red Shimmerz. Isn't it such a beautiful color!
I hope you are all having a terrific week! Thanks for stopping by today!

Shimmerz for a Diva

It is National Scrapbooking Day (NSD) on Saturday May 2nd. I do love to scrapbook but I am not a fancy scrapbooker (I am not a fancy card maker either, it is just my style ;) ). I did have lots of fun with this page and my shimmerz, since they are water based they are perfectly safe for your photos.

I wanted to make the butterfly sunglasses sparkley so I painted them with the Coal Shimmerz. I also painted the flowers with Sunflower, Fire Enging Red and Orange Sherbet.

This is the original picture, you can see the glare from the flash on the glasses was a bit irritating.

Here is one side painted and one without, see how it covers the glare and adds sparkle.

And the final picture, so cute and perfect for a diva!!

Now it is your turn, let's see those pages made with your shimmerz. Link them {HERE} for your chance to win 5 jars of Shimmerz!!

A "Daisy" Kind Of Day ....

For my card i used the wagon out of the Magnolia Easter collection and inked just the bottom part - trying to avoid the eggs. Than i stamped Tilda 2x one for my focal point image and the second time just cut out the wreath. I used this piece to make the daisies look like they spill out of the wagon. To all the petals of the daisies i added Shimmerz Angle Wings paint to make them sparkle.

Stamps: (Retro Tilda "Shabby Chic Collection", Wagon "Easter 2009 Collection", Daisy's (?), Sentiment: Stampin up"
Papers: Stampin up and Imaginice, Making Memories (pink polka dot), Tools: Fiskars Apron lace punch
Embellishements: Shimmerz "Angle Wings" on the daisies; Stampin up ribbon, Making Memories button, Stickles on frame, Ranger white gel pen, Martha Stewart big pearl stickers

Shimmerz and Blingz....Hoot! Hoot!

Isn’t he cute? This card has NO stamping. I used Pink Paislee paper called Vintage Moon. The owl comes on one of the sheets in the pack, so I cut it out, popped it up, and then painted it with Shimmerz! Easy enough eh?

For the Shimmerz and Blingz colors, I used Coal, Mello Yello, and Under the Sea. This card really is as easy as can be ! Hoot! Hoot!

Shimmerz By The Sea

In honour of National Scrapbooking Day I thought I would do a scrapbook page to celebrate.

I've used my Shimmerz and Blingz around the edges (Angel Wings and Under The Sea), on the paper wave (Under The Sea, Sky Blue and Angel Wings) and on the letters (Spiced Cider). I've decorated the page with some shells, a silver star fish charm and wrapped us in newspaper.

The piccy is from a weekend by the sea, my OH and me in Hastings (UK) from around two years ago.

If you click on the picture you can get a close-up of the details (and our lovely mugs, you lucky folks!).

Enjoy NSD

A Card For A Loved One

This was something that I was just kind of playing around with. I was using Shimmerz on a variety of materials to see what I could come up with. Anyway, I used Shimmerz Royal Red on the flowers, and on the metal piece. I think next time I am going to sponge it for a more even effect. But all in all, I liked it :)

You might have to tilt your head a little. Something seems to be off, maybe it's me.

Supplies used: Webster Pages, K&Co Metal Embellie, Prima Flower, Tim Holtz Clock Hand, Shimmerz Royal Red, Bazzill Cardstock.

Birds And Flowers

I have a shimmering Shimmerz card today. I've made some background papers using my Shimmerz paints (teal, Sky blue, sugar plum and Under the sea Blingz). Embossed the foreground sheet, painted over the embossing with the Sugar plum Shimmerz then cut into panels. The flower is made from Shimmerz coloured papers, netting and organza cut out with my nesties and distressed.

Look at the shine when the card catches the light:

Have a lovely day

Celebrate Today

I painted just part of the wings with some Shimmerz paints. With all the buttons I did not want to go too crazy. That's where Shimmerz is JUST wonderful. It just adds the right amount of extra interest to any project.
Stamps: Tilda with big butterfly wings from the "Chasing Butterfly" Collection 2009, Sentiment: Papertry Ink
Embellishments: Shimmerz Angel Wings paint on the wings for shimmer, buttons: FooFaLa, Hemp by Stampin' Up!
Other: Cuttlebug die

A Shimmerz Thank you

I love Shimmerz and I love how beautiful it made this card.

Look at that Shimmerz, It is hard to make a

flower more beautiful, but Shimmerz can do it!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Spring day!!

A perfect touch

I haven't made a scrapbook page for quite awhile that I did just for me. No requirements, just creating and being inspired by my favorite products. It's always fun to work like that because it seems to get me excited about creating again.

On this layout I found that Shimmerz paints added a perfect touch to many of my accents. First I painted chipboard pieces with a similar color of acrylic paints, then for the trees I used "Green Olive" Shimmerz and "Choc-lot" for the trunks. I added some red mini brads for the apples, but then topped them off with a dab on each of the "Flashee Fushia" Blingz. The fushia sort of mellowed out the bright red brads which I felt blended better with my other layout colors. (Click on photos for close ups!)

The little chipboard bird is coated with "December Sky" Blingz and I also added a quick wash along the green border of the layout in the same color. It looks awesome yet still earthy with my layout scheme-- sort of like nature's mica flakes mixed in amongst the grasses and dirt.

The final Shimmerz touch was added to the alphabet stickers. I chose my letters, painted them up with "Choc-o-lot" right on the sticker sheet then peeled them off when dry and applied them to my layout.

Have a happy "National Scrapbooking Day"! Don't forget to add some shimmery accents for that "perfect touch" to your layouts.

Linda :-)

Shimmerz with Scrapbooking

I love the way this layout came together, but felt like it was missing just a little something. It needed to be something more on the subtle side - which made me think about my Shimmerz paints! I recently picked up the color COAL and thought it would be perfect on this. So, armed with a paint brush, my jar of Coal Shimmerz and my nearly-finished layout, I went to work. Five minutes later - voila! Just what I needed!

I hope you can see what a difference it made! I painted the title and the frame around the journaling. It ended up being the perfect touch for this! I'm so pleased that I added it because it made all the difference without overpowering what I had already done. I hope this inspires you to give it a whirl on some of your layouts - you'll be so glad you did!

Be well! ~ Jenn

I Just Heard!

Hello, today i would like to show you a card using Golden Wheat paint from Shimmerz , I have used it to paint the yellow prima flowers sparkly. This paint is wonderful.. the flowers are kind of fuzzy and i sort of expected the paint to be sucked right in.. but nothing.. it stayed on the felt and once the paint was dry it still shimmered so pretty and just gives my card a wonderful effect. This is how the the inside of my card looks like.. I think this is only my second card i have made so far where i have colored a second image in for the inside. It does look nice but boy it is quite some extra work :-) I used Shimmerz "Angel Wingz" on the bees wings to make them pop out a bit Stamps: Magnolia "Chasing Butterfly Collection" Tilda holding bee and bee hive are soon available through Magnolia-licous
Embellishments: Shimmerz paint in Golden Wheat, Stampin up hardware silver hodgepodge, Making Memories button, Chocolate Chip Inkpad, Stampin up "so Saffron" ribbon

Tools: Nestabilities (Large deckled Rectangles, large Circle set/scalloped and plain) Cuttlebug Embossing folderPaper/Cardstock: all by Stampin up, white and black

Do much good...

Such a simple sentiment, yet so meaningful at the same time. That's why I decided to put it on my newest Shimmerz project. This hanging wall board was made using a large chipboard shape, patterned paper, cardstock and an embossing machine, clear Melissa Frances acrylic stamps, lace, buttons, bows, and of course lots of Shimmerz paints (remember to click photos for close ups.)

After embossing the cardstock I used the "Pixie Dust" Shimmerz on the entire piece then adhered it to the patterned paper on the chipboard base. Then I did some machine stitching to the papers.

I stamped the flower images onto cardstock by applying slightly watered down acrylic paints directly to the stamps. You have to work quickly, but it makes for a fun watercolor type technique. I used 2 colors for my flowers--red and off white. Once the paint was on the stamp I quickly add a couple of swipes of matching Shimmerz (use different brushes so that you don't mix acrylic paint into your Shimmerz if you work right out the jars like I do.) I used "Pink Poinsettia" for my flowers.

For my leaves I added both the "Wintergreen" and "Golden Wheat". As you can tell, I am not afraid to mix my Shimmerz! ;-)

I also applied the "Pixie Dust" to the branches on the piece and fell in love (I can't wait to use this on branches and twigs for winter projects!) For the silk flower I used the same colors of paints and Shimmerz, because there's nothing cooler than changing the color of a flower and adding some shimmer!

Have a great day,
Linda :-)

2 Happy Projects

I just love what my Shimmez Paints can do for my layouts and other projects alike! Today, I would like to share with you some recent projects I made, one being a layout, and one an altered project.

First up, is the layout I created. My son had gotten me a birthday present, which he picked out all on his own. I felt that the story behind the gift was quite nice and I really wanted to remember the gifts I received and then of course the reasons behind his gifts. I went ahead and added to the layout some of the new Prima flowers, which I felt really needed to have a shimmery touch to them, and therefore, I added my Angel Wings Shimmerz to the white flower and then Candle Light Shimmerz to the antiqued paper flower. For my title work, I at first painted the title white, but decided to give my new Under the Sea Blingz a try, and I REALLY love the color of this! I think that you will to! Here is the layout:
Here are the close up shots of the title and the flowers. Just check out that shimmer! Love it!

Next, I created a fun little project, which is this altered plaque that I am going to hang up in my scrap room. It's a hybrid project, in which I printed out the pattern papers from a digital kit, and then used traditional elements as well. I brought out a lot of old supplies, and brought them to life by adding my Shimmerz paints to them. As you'll see, there is a sheen to the little labels near the clock and then shimmer on the butterfly, leaves and swirl close to the title. I love the extra bling that the Shimmez added. Colors used on this project were Celery Shimmerz (rub on leaves), Angel Wingz Shimmerz (on the butterfly and labels) and Gold Glimmer Blingz (on top of the painted swirl).

Thanks so much for letting me share! Have a shimmery day!

Nite Nite

Hi All! Today I have a card featuring the awesome Shimmerz Blingz in Gold Glimmer. When I pulled out my MFT set I knew I wanted to add some sparkle to the stars and moon. I love the subtle bling the Shimmerz brings to all my cards. I just painted it on stars and moon to complete my card. I love how it turned out!

A Shimmery Flower Tutorial

Hi Everyone!! I'd like to share a fun little tutorial with you on how to make a shimmery 3-dimensional flower. I hope you enjoy it...

Supplies I used for this project:
  • Shimmerz - Fire Engine Red, Royal Red, Olive
  • Distress Ink (Tim Holz)
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Scallop Punch (Stampin' Up)
  • Brad
  • Crimper
  • 65# Card Stock (best for curling the petals)

For a little bit of shadowing, I rub some ink into the areas where the center of the flower will be. I use an ink that is a couple shades darker than the card stock I am using, and do this before applying the Shimmerz.

You can use what ever you like to apply the ink, a sponge or a dauber. I like to use an old t-shirt wrapped around my fingers as I feel I have more control of the ink this way.

I then apply Fire Engine Red Shimmerz with a paint brush to the areas that will be punched out with the scallop punch. I used a small scrap to punch out a window to hold over the area - this allows me to only apply Shimmerz to where I need to instead of the entire sheet. I’m thrifty like that. You’ll need to punch a total of 4 scallops for your flower.

While the Shimmerz on the red card stock is drying, I move along to making the leaves. I used some scraps of card stock.

I free hand cut some leaves from the folded edge.

With the leaf still folded in half, I run it through the crimper. You want to lay the leaf so that the outside edge goes through the crimper before the folded edge. This will make sure the lines are going the way the veins in a leaf would naturally.

After running them through the crimper, I use a light coat of Olive Shimmerz. Running the brush over top, just catching the top edges of the crimping. I also edge the leaves with the Shimmerz.

By the time you’re done with the leaves, the Shimmerz on your petals should be dry enough to punch. Holding the punch upside down so you can see where you’re punching, punch out 4 scallops.

You could also try this with a scalloped nestie, or just a circle punch. Or maybe you have a flower punch...

After punching them out, flip them over and apply Shimmerz to the other side of them.

Next, snip in between every other scallop with your scissors. Do not cut all the way to the center.

Then you’ll want to punch the hole in the center for your brad to fit through. It’s easiest to do it now while the petals are flat.

You also want to punch a hole in the leaves.

I use the end of the paintbrush I used for the Shimmerz to curl the edges of the petals.

On one (the bottom) layer, I curl the petals under. On all the other layers, I curl the petals upward.

Starting with the top layer of petals, layer them onto the brad.

Layer the leaves onto the brad, and secure the brad to hold them all together.

The last thing to do is to fold up the middle petals into an arrangement you like.

I then used Royal Red Shimmerz, which is just a shade darker than the Fire Engine Red Shimmerz, to edge the tops and bottoms of the petals.

Here’s the finished look. It’s a great way to add some shimmery dimension to any project. I know it seems like a lot of directions, but it's a really quick project.

Here's an example of one I created to add to the belly band for an envelope/box.

You can download a PDF version of these instructions at this link. Thanks for taking a look, and I hope this makes it easy for you to add some 3-dimensional shimmer to your projects!

Did you like the tutorial? If so, leave a comment and let me know. I'd love to know if I should do more of these.

Hugs,
Jami
